I brought the Suso’s to one of my favorite hidden spots in Virginia Key just after sunrise. It’s quiet there, tucked away from everything, and when the light comes through in the early morning it creates this soft, almost ethereal glow that feels made for moments like these.

Everything about the setting felt perfect, except for one thing. The mosquitoes were relentless. Truly next level. Not exactly what any of us had in mind for a peaceful morning by the water. But they handled it with so much grace and humor, leaning into the experience and staying fully present with each other through it all. July in Miami is no joke, but somehow, the chaos of it all made the session feel even more real.

What made this one especially meaningful for me was Nani’s story. She hadn’t done a maternity session with her first daughter and didn’t think she would this time either, but something shifted. She didn’t want to look back and wish she had captured this chapter. She also shared that she doesn’t usually love how she looks in photos, but had a clear vision of something softer and more natural, something that felt like her.

And that’s exactly what we created. There’s something really special about photographing someone in that space, where it’s not about perfection, but about being seen differently. Despite the bites, the heat, and everything that could have gotten in the way, we walked away with a gallery that feels honest, warm, and entirely theirs.
